Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board-Certified Music Therapist. Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and two master’s degrees from Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

In addition to offering traditional verbal counseling, Amanda has also utilized her music therapy training in her work to provide an integrated music therapy-counseling approach, which harnesses the power of music to support and enhance counseling techniques. Amanda’s practice is primarily focused on counseling adolescents and adults dealing with a variety of issues, such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship issues
  • Stress reduction/management
  • Grief/loss
  • Identity and self-esteem issues
  • Adjustment to life changes
  • Challenging behaviors
  • Trauma/abuse

Amanda has also obtained specialized training in dreamwork through graduate-level coursework, utilizing two different models of dream interpretation that rely on either a cognitive-experiential approach or a focus on bodily sensation and awareness.  Dreamwork is offered as a technique within individual counseling sessions or as the primary focus of sessions.

“I work from a humanistic philosophy in which I believe it is my role to help clients discover and tap into their inherent ability to grow and change. It is my belief that the challenges and adversities that we face in our daily lives can help us grow and change in unexpected ways. Many people seek counseling as a means through which they can work through challenges and adversities they are currently facing in their lives. Through self-reflection and -exploration we can often find the inner strength we need to overcome the struggles in our lives. I strive to create a supportive environment through a therapeutic relationship characterized by warmth, genuineness, empathy, and acceptance in which you can feel safe in engaging in self-exploration and working toward reaching your therapeutic goals.”

Amanda is available for a 15-minute phone consultation free of charge to discuss potential counseling options and to determine if the services she offers would meet your needs.
