How to protect your Skin during the summer months

MH900425499Integumentary system is nothing more than the elastic external covering of your body or what is commonly referred to as “the skin.” It’s a pretty fancy way to describe your skin isn’t it?  While your skin has been designed by Mother Nature to be tough and the first line of defense for the body, it is by no means a delicate and sensitive organ of the human physique. Another fact that is directly related to your skin is that it can be damaged by too much heat and ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun and therefore warrants your immediate attention to care for your skin especially since summer is here.

Benefits of the skin

While you usually take your skin for granted and sees it nothing more as a smooth, lovely and vibrant “thing” that adornsMB900422274 your body; there is actually more to it in skin deep. Your skin acts as a waterproof layer for your body and yet at the same time it helps regulate your body temperature by secreting liquid through your sweat glands. Its elasticity keeps you from getting muscle and soft tissue injuries, because it acts as a shock dampening assembly. It also helps keep your internal organs, veins, arteries, muscles, tendons and bones in place. On the microscopic level; however, it gets even more impressive as it also protects you from harmful microscopic biological life forms such as viruses and bacteria. These are just among the few known benefits of the human skin.

Some ways you can protect your skin from the summer heat

MH900434465Summer heat could reach as much as 90-100° Fahrenheit but even at 80° Fahrenheit it could already damage your skin. You can protect your skin by staying hydrated. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day will actually do the trick. Another way to protect your skin from the extreme heat of summer is by exfoliating and you can use sugar and olive/almond/coconut oil as your own home made exfoliating material. Hydrating your body from the inside is good but taking a bath at least twice a day will also help keep your skin alive. Shaving your body hair while taking a shower would also be a good way to take care of your skin, practice a skin regimen by cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing your face also. Don’t scalp maintenance as it is still a part of your skin and finally put on a moisturizing lotion after bath. I would definitely recommend you use a lotion with shea butter – it is both a great moisturizing lotion and smells really good too!

A healthy skin makes you even more attractive

Now as far as attractiveness is concerned there is no bigger part of you that elaborates it more than your epidermis does. The bottom line is that if you have unhealthy skin you’re going to look 10 years older than you really are. What a bummer?! While looks does not make up everything in any relationship it does have a lot to do with “love at first sight” stories and recent surveys reveal that men are attracted to women who are at least slim to mid-tier fit and athletic at the most. Meanwhile women are attracted to men who are tall and good looking came as a second choice in terms of physical appearances. It also revealed that 76% of men love to caress women’s soft baby-like skin – that’s a lot to consider even for such an awkward and trivial thing as that! But still, it should be enough to set off the alarms just in case you don’t care about having a smooth and beautiful skin.
