Sound healing

When it comes to benefits of music, the list is endless. We play music at weddings to celebrate love, listen to it when we are bored, and even dance to it. Most importantly, we use music for healing. How? This is through a therapy known as sound healing. Read on and get to know what is sound healing.

What is sound healing?

Sound healing is one of the natural and oldest forms of healing known to man. The therapy uses the power of sound to restore one’s spirit, mind, and body back to a state of balance.

The therapy uses vibrations (tuning forks, vocal or instrumental-like gongs, and Tibetan singing bowls) to relax your body and mind.

How does it work?

Let’s get a bit technical on how sound healing works. First, the sound brings about shifts in the brainwave state through entrainment. Entrainment will then synchronize the fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency that the brainwave can attune to.

Through the rhythm and frequency produced by the sound, will entrain your brainwaves, which makes it possible to shift down our normal waking consciousness (normal beta state) to relaxed consciousness (alpha), and even reach meditative state (theta) and sleep state where the healing will occur (delta).

The whole process occurs as our bodies are comprised mainly of liquid. Therefore, these vibrations can deeply penetrate to your body, moving through your organs and tissues. The vibrations or sound will directly resonate into your cellular memory eliminating blockages and creating a profound sense of relaxation and sense.

What is it like?

A sound healing therapy treatment gives you two experiences. They include passive and participatory experience. The passive experience or part starts by you becoming relaxed by laying your body down and slowing your breathing pace. Through this, you’ll be preparing yourself to be the receiver of the sound.

At this point, is where the participatory part starts. In this place of stillness, you are now becoming aware and more open for the sound that comes in.

What does it treat?
